Tonmeister Klaus-Dieter Harbusch
The Erich-Thienhaus-Institute of the Detmold University of Music mourns the loss of its former lecturer Klaus-Dieter Harbusch, who passed away in Cologne at the age of 92.
From October 1, 1991 to December 13, 1994, Klaus-Dieter Harbusch served as a lecturer in music transmission in the field of electronic music at the Detmold University of Music. During this time, he brought his extensive professional experience and great musical sensitivity into his teaching, providing students with well-founded insights into the practical work of a Tonmeister.
Klaus-Dieter Harbusch himself studied Tonmeister at the Detmold University of Music. After completing his degree, he first gained several years of practical experience as a sound engineer in the record industry before working for many years in broadcasting as an artistic recording director and Tonmeister. In this role, he contributed to numerous music productions, shaping them through his refined musical instinct and high level of professionalism.
Former professor and spokesperson of the Erich Thienhaus Institute, Werner Dabringhaus, met Klaus-Dieter Harbusch during his internship at WDR. Mr. Dabringhaus remembers him as one of the most influential colleagues of his time, someone who guided musicians to outstanding results with great restraint and sensitivity.
With the passing of Klaus-Dieter Harbusch, the Detmold University of Music loses a former colleague who exemplarily combined teaching and artistic practice.
Klaus-Dieter Harbusch gave an impressive interview in November 1978 for Studiomagazin about his work and about Tonmeister training in Detmold. It can be found here.
